inspiration for my article title and tag line.

Stylist magazine . (2014 ). video: how to apply flawless foundation by Revlon's beauty director Gucci Westman . Available: http://www.stylist.co.uk/beauty/video-how-to-apply-silky-smooth-foundation-shared-by-revlon-s-global-make-up-director-gucci-westman. Last accessed 22nd Nov 2015 .

What do I like about this?

Firstly I think the image is amazing. I keep looking at it and I like everything about it. I like the way the skin looks so flawless, it's almost illuminous and I like the way the coat is made from a material that makes it look wet, much like the skin. I thin the way the model is posed is also very nice, she looks very natural and not forced. The way her hands are placed also looks very soft, something I think would have been intended.
Furthermore I like the fact that although the background is of the same colour palette as the models skin, it does not take away from the image and simply fits very well.
I believe the font of the title suits this editorial very well. The font is soft and does not have any sharp edges, this I think suits the theme well.
I also like how the tag line and opening paragraph is placed. The font is not too big and there is just enough information for the reader to understand what the editorial is about, yet it is not too much and I infer that the copy would carry on, on the opposite page.
The title of this article is a good pun. The article is clearly about makeup bases (the primers, foundations and highlighters to make the skin glowy and flawless) yet the title is also the name of Meghan Trainor's song 'All about that base' which I think is very clever.
Overall I think this image is very strong, this is something I aspire to create and hopefully my final blog will look even half as good as this editorial image.

Groka Del Valle . (2015 ). Fresh intensity . Available: http://www.wowberlinmag.com/wow-beauty-editorial-fresh-intensity-by-gorka-del-valle/. Last accessed 22nd Nov 2015 .

What do I like about this?
I do not like this image as much as the one above. This is because I am not too keen on the font. I do not like the red in this image as I think it looks too punchy, however this is probably intended as the word 'intensity' is in red, a colour that infers the word that is the main feature.
I believe I chose this image because of the title. 'Fresh' is a word that comes to mind when I think of the theme I have chosen to base my blog on, therefore finding this image has helped me with the idea of my own title and tag line. Other than this I am not too keen on this image as a whole, even though I think the title is nice.

Final chosen images.

Product shoot and swatches.

Here are the images I took when shooting for my product images.

These are the unedited versions of this product shoot, I will need to edit these by making them smaller and fit together so that they are able to be placed with my final images and copy.
I think these images are quite successful, I particularly like the way the the skin care products look (the Liz Earle and Elemis). I think the individual pictures look better than the full picture, however I will experiment with photoshop to see if there is a way I can edit them into the full picture that I would like to include in my final blog.

Shoot 3: Perfect skin.

Here are the images taken from my second shoot around the same theme of flawless skin. I chose to stick with the same colour palette of having red lips, however I chose to paint the nails a different colour and I quite like the outcome of this. I believe the blue looks nice against the red and keeps the image from looking all the same colour, as with my test shoot a few weeks ago.

What do I think was successful about this shoot?
Firstly, I think this shoot was successful as I think it will compliment my other set of images very well. This is because both models look very different, one has a darker skin tone, whereas in these images the skin tone is very pale. I was aiming for my models to look different as I think this represents that everyones skin is different. Everyone has different skin tones and textures, yet with the right skin care products achieving this look of 'flawless skin' that is presented in my images, is more likely to be possible.
Furthermore, I think the poses in this shoot are good, they are similar to the other set of images, therefore my article will look congruent and they will seem as if they are intended for the same purpose, however I do think they could be better.
I also like the lighting in this shoot. I think that the highlight has hit the light really well and although they will need slightly editing on photoshop, the model does indeed look like she has naturally flawless skin that glows.

What do I think was less successful about this shoot?
There are two elements with this shoot that I am not too pleased with. Firstly, I do not like the tattoo that the model has. I will definitely edit this out on photoshop and looking back is probably something that I should have tried to cover with makeup, however I will not dwell on this as it may be able to be fixed.
Secondly although I like the poses and believe they embody what I was trying to achieve, I am still not that 'wowed' by them. I feel as though I am still waiting for that really strong image to be taken, however this could be my overly critical eye picking at my own work.

What is my next step?
My next step in terms of this project will be to edit these images and choose the final ones that I would like to include on my blog. I will then also need to edit them to show what hides underneath 'flawless' skin. If I am able to find time and space in the studios, I aim to produce a final shoot, in the hopes that I am 'wowed' by a really strong image that will capture the viewer.
